Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

What exactly is your point? Homosexuality is forbidden among JWs, that's why it's relevant on an ex-JW forum. How else can we talk about something without labelling it? Words are labels and labels are how we communicate. The word gay is the commonly accepted term for homosexual men.
What are you advocating, that we don't talk about the topic at all? Why would you want to stop people from talking about it? You're welcome to stay away, but it's not your place to shut down other people's conversations.

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution
by dubstepped inso i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

While resultant species believed to have evolved are evident, no one has ever come up with fossils of transitional species or a chain of evolving transitional species all connected to the resultant. Also, take the human being, there are no surving transitionals, only the final result. Hence, everything roaming the earth is a resultant species from the mechanics of the evolutionary process. But there should also be around the other species that connect everything together. There aren't any. --There are a lot of explanations though.
You presumably had to read information you initially found troubling in order to see the light and leave the JWs behind. Why not put the same critical thinking to use and read a book about transitional fossils.
HINT: All fossils are transitional.

Evolution doesn't happen today...WRONG...
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inlast year i had a brother tell me that one proof evolution is false is that he doesn't see it happening today... i was going to bring of viruses evolving so fast that new vaccines must be developed each year but felt he was too closed minded to receive it.
today i was listening to the audio book of 'an ancestors tale- richard dawkins' and noted oe point that shined through.. here is evolution happening>>>.

Venus, I don't understand what any of this has to do with anything? This thread is about evolution and you've hardly even talked about evolution. You've just quoted biologists talking mostly about other things.
This thread isn't about how atheists feel, to which there is no answer as they are all individuals and are arguably the most varied bunch on the planet. I've literally met fellow atheists with whom the only thing I agree on is the non-existence of god.
Moreover, the complexity of DNA isn't due to evolution, it was already complex before evolution got started, and altruism is so far off from the OP I don't even know how you got there.

Are there any full preterists here?
by quincemyles inare there any folks here who believe that armageddon, the "second coming of christ.
" the great tribulation and resurrection are past events rather than future?.

The gospels were written after 70, trying to make it look like Jesus prophesied it. They had no interest in the future at the time they were written. Would anyone writing such texts today care about a specific generation living in the year 4000?

Why do ex-JW's talk so much about being ex-JW's?
by Sour Grapes inis it because we were in the cult watchtower compound that we talk about being ex-jw's when we stop being active?
i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.
they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.

I never do outside of this site, and I only do it here because that's what this site is specifically geared towards. Most who know me in real life have no idea that I was raised as a JW, and they never will. I also never talk about the religion with my PIMI family, who know not to bring it up when I visit them.

One day the penny dropped and I became a Nihilistic non believer. I'm not an atheist (if my understanding of what an atheist is is correct), because I totally rule out any possibility of a god/s, I don't even give wiggle room for evidence. Forget that. There is no god and that's that. Won't get fooled again!
This is called gnostic atheism.
